BOOK REVIEW:
Before I start the ‘Review’ of ‘Return To Food’ let me spell it out clearly - this is NOT going to be the usual book review, because this is not any other normal book. When I signed up for the ‘Return to Food’ book tour, what I expected was a book that advocates healthy diet practices and offers motivation – the usual, run of the mill book that gives yet another new perspective on diet. But ‘Return to Food’ is all that and much more. It is the complete transformation guide that does what it says and of course, is so much fun to read that you almost forget that you are reading a diet book.
From the foreword till the last printed page, Return To Food is a treasure trove of healthy eating practices and a lot of other information that seems practical to use in day to day life. In an interview with the author, I had the pleasure of asking her a few questions, the first of which was, why ‘Return to Food’? It was a very intriguing title and until I read the book, I didn’t really know the real meaning behind it. My queries were answered (both in the book and in the chat with the author) with one simple sentence – the ‘Food’ that we are all eating now, is not food at all. Sounds difficult to believe at the beginning, but once you have read the book, you will change your opinion!
With this book, you will learn how to return to food – the actual, real food that nature has blessed us with rather than depending on the industrially processed alternatives. You will realise what you have been doing wrong so far, and learn to correct your mistakes related to food consumption. Return to food is not about heavy dieting, nor is it about miracles that are supposed to happen when you starve yourself. This is about a five point approach to eliminating lifestyle diseases by the root. And managing to do it the only permanent way – by changing the food you consume.
Without going too much into the contents, a few reasons as why you should go for this book!
·                     ·        The beautiful illustrations – they are an excellent addition to the book and valuable in getting the point across.
·                     ·        Have you ever thought about the amount of work that goes into making a chocolate cake?
·                     ·        Would you eat it as casually if it were you who had to source all your ingredients (from scratch – not the store bought flour, but actually get the ingredients to make the flour)
·                     ·        Do you know you could pick your poisons? Do you know that you can choose alternatives and choose the lesser evil? Do you know how to find the lesser evil?
·                     ·        Weight loss is not health gain – by the time you read this book, you will realise why this is so?
·                     ·        Did you know fat cells are good for you, and actually absorb the toxins that might be harmful for your body?
·                     ·        Have you ever thought about what is nature’s way of keeping you from over indulging?
·                     ·        The blueberry juice that you actually made from fresh berries lost colour? Have you ever noticed why the store bought juice never does that? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
‘Return to Food’ not only answers all the questions you might have, it also answers questions you never knew (or thought) you should have! And it does so with beautiful illustrations that will actually register in your mind the concept that the book is trying to convey.
It is not a diet book for sickly, overweight people. The slimmer you are, the better it is for you if you read this book! This is a life changer. Go for this one.
